NEWS! DGI Byen switches to 100% Green Energy from Wind Power

We are taking a meaningful step toward a greener future by transitioning to 100% green energy. This means all facilities, from the swimming centre, sports arenas and conference facilities to the hotel,  now will be powered by renewable energy. The electricity is sourced from a wind turbine at the Østerild Test Center in Northern Jutland. This transition to green energy is part of several initiatives aimed at reducing DGI Byen’s carbon footprint in the coming years.

Reducing our CO2 Emissions by 1,500 tons annually
By switching to 100% green energy, DGI Byen reduces its annual CO2 emissions by approximately 1,500 tons, equivalent to the average yearly CO2 footprint of around 125 people. Choosing DGI Byen as your conference venue, sports arena, or leisure destination means supporting a greener future.

Green Key Certification since 2021
In 2021, DGI Byen earned the Green Key certification, which ensures compliance with strict environmental standards across several areas of our operations. You can read more about our green initiatives on this page.
