Paul Petersens Idrætsinstitut at DGI Byen

Paul Petersens Idrætsinstitut is Denmark’s oldest sports institute, and it has been based at DGI Byen since its opening in 1997.

Paul Petersen, who founded the institute back in 1878, was a pioneer in women’s athletics. Today, the institute offers a range of educational programmes to the public in fields such as personal training, teaching, consulting and event management in the world of sports.

Paul Petersens Idrætsinstitut offers sports education programmes in the areas of sports and the outdoors. The sports track focuses on sports disciplines such as ball games, movement, swimming and anatomy, while the outdoors track is mainly taught out in nature as the students sail canoes or kayaks and go trekking. Both tracks also offer training in communication, physiology, lifesaving, event/project management, etc.
